CJ Featured on Podcasts

Just found two more podcasts that used my music!

The first was the A VerySpatial Podcast, which is a podcast about geography and geospatial technologies.  They featured Fantasy World on episode 240.

The second was the Twilight Series Theories podcast.  They featured Don’t Leave Me Sunshine on episode # 76, Flying By The Seat Of Our Pants.

Check those podcasts out, especially if you’re into geography or Twilight…I know, that’s a random combination isn’t it? :)

Fantasy World on Fame Games Qualifier!

Fantasy World made it onto the Fame Games Qualifier show yesterday, just like So Easily did last week. The DJ’s liked my vocal and liked the song, but thought the chorus was a bit weak.  I’m not really sure what that means, but there you go.  I did get two reviews late last week that loved it and boosted up my score!  Thanks Edgy and Mark3!

You can listen to the episode yourself here.  Fantasy World is #7 in the playlist, which makes it the first one in round two, about half-way through the show.

Come Get Your Fantasy World!

It’s now time for you to hear what I’ve been working on for the past year.  Fantasy World is now available.  You can get the entire EP as free 128-bit MP3′s from http://music.christopherjoel.com.  Of course, if you’re so inclined, you can also purchase it from there, or any of the following online stores:

Cinco de Mayo = Fantasy World

CJ name FWEP Clip

This is best news I’ve been able to deliver during the past year: the EP is done. Yeah, you read that right; it’s finally finished! Recorded, mixed, mastered, artworked (is that a word?), uploaded, and ready to be in your hands!…er…ears, that is. I swear, this has been like being pregnant. Well, not quite, its been a year since we started! Either way, I’m letting my baby out into the wild.

May 5th, Cinco de Mayo, Fantasy World by Christopher Joel will be released on iTunes, Amazon.com, Amie Street.com, here on christopherjoel.com, and quite a few more places. Why wait three more weeks? I’m redesigning everything: my website, my myspace, my facebook page, my twitter profile, my sonicbids EPK, and quite a few other things to match the artwork.

Speaking of the artwork, it was done by one of my favorite artists, Aaron Grayum. For now, that banner up there is all you get to see, but if you search the internet for Christopher Joel, I think there are a few places you can see the rest of it early. For now, I’m going to tease you with just that little bit. :)

I’m working on the EP release party, which will be here in Nashville, and some special promotions for that night too; you won’t want to miss it!  I’ll email everyone on my mailing list with details as soon as I get them, so sign up for the mailing list if you haven’t already!

Fantasy World has been mastered

The last step in recording is called Mastering. Mastering is that last little bit of audio polish that shines up a recording and makes it really sparkle. Not that I consider my music sparkly. Or glittery, it’s not glittery either.

Anyway, Mike and I have been trying for weeks now to mastering these five tracks on our own and discovered that mastering is an art unto itself. Fortunately, we know one of the best mastering engineers in Nashville, Vinnie Alibrandi. I just got some excerpts back from Vinnie and they sound so good!

That means I’m one step closer to an actual release. Fantasy World, here we come!

Christopher Joel Plays 12th & Porter

I played the William Smith Orchestra Writer’s Night last night.  Casey Frazier (I mentioned him a few months ago) played a showcase at the beginning of the night, then the William Smith Orchestra did it’s thing.  We writers played into the night and I was the ninth one on the list.  We were only supposed to play one song, since so many writers showed up to play, but a few people didn’t get the memo.  I followed the rules and only played Fantasy World, but shamelessly promoted my upcoming EP.

It was loads of fun and I’m really glad I got to play.  The stage and sound at 12th & Porter is to be envied by all.  Below is the video we shot with my new Flip Mino HD.  Check it out!
